Loved the group activities that were done. Loved the library game! I have come away from the workshop motivated and keen to start tutoring a learner. ~ Literacy Tutor
Special activities and thematic displays held throughout the year provide tutors with lesson planning ideas and enable learners to strengthen their skills. Occasions include Adult Learners’ Week, Remembrance Day, Financial Literacy Month and Family Literacy Day. Activities range from writing postcards for peace to viewing films based on books that learners have read.
It may have taken the learner over a year to read the book, but it was worth it! Just hearing those words “the book was better than the movie” – priceless! ~ Literacy tutor
Seasonal gatherings provide opportunities for volunteers, learners and supporters to gather and build community in an informal setting. Attendees share home cooking and baking and participate in prize draws.
Active tutors have access to our tutor corner, a password-protected site with news, tutoring materials and other resources of interest to tutors.
