BOARD OF DIRECTORS Laura is a biotechnology product development executive, specializing in early phase translational research. She has occupied senior management positions in a number of drug development and medical device companies, and is currently Senior Director, Translational Research at Caprion Proteomics Inc. She obtained a PhD from the University of Manitoba and Post-doctoral training from the National Research Council of Canada. Laura joined the Board in March 2010.
Laura McIntosh, PresidentLesley is Director of Strategy and Business Development with Bombardier. Prior this, she worked as an Engineering Consultant for industrial and commercial customers. Lesley joined the Board in October 2007.
Lesley Antoun, Past-PresidentAda is a retired accountant and finance systems implementation specialist who has been a volunteer with Literacy Unlimited for many years. She is currently a tutor and has also worked on the golf committee and at various community outreach events. Ada joined the Board in April 2011.
Ada Demeo, DirectorNadya has held various volunteer leadership positions in school associations over the past 12 years, most recently as President of the Parents Association at Queen of Angels Academy. With an MBA in Finance/International Business from McGill University, her previous work experience included 8 years as a Senior Strategy Consultant for both Canadian and multi-national firms and 10 years in the insurance, banking and pharmaceutical industries. Nadya joined the Board in April 2011.
Nadya Kruk, SecretaryCliff is a chartered accountant (CA) who has worked in the areas of assurance, taxation and business advisory services for private and public companies, family-owned businesses and not-for-profit clients. Cliff joined the Board in March 2010.

Ann is the president of IBT Canada/Caribbean, part of an international network of consulting offices dedicated to Coaching People to Work Smarter. Ann has worked in sales, marketing and planning for Canadian companies active in the paper, food, pharmaceutical and personal care industries. Ann joined the Board in March 2006.
Ann Searles, Vice-PresidentStephanie is a retired nurse with many years of volunteer experience in the public school system. She has served on school-governing boards and committees advocating for families. She is a Literacy Unlimited tutor for adults and is also involved in the School Literacy Program. She is guided in her volunteer work by her desire to make a difference in "building a better community." Stephanie joined the Board in February 2009.
Stephanie Trenholm, DirectorADVISORS TO THE BOARD Patricia is retired from a career in social work and social service management and has been a volunteer with Literacy Unlimited since 1998. Patricia was previously the Secretary to the Board which she joined in March 2005.
Patricia Bratley, AdvisorSuzanne owns and operates DeterminAction Inc. which provides business consultancy services and MIKISUe Inc., a design and distribution company of unique and unusual products. Prior to this, Suzanne had a successful career in business consulting, as well as in the travel management services industry. Suzanne joined the Board in April 2009.
Suzanne Savoie, AdvisorStephan is a senior consultant at CGI. He has been involved in Kids Horizons and Dreams Take Flight and fundraising events such as the Hotel-Dieu Foundation for the severely burned unit and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Stephan Séguin, AdvisorRichard holds a mechanical engineering degree from the U.K. and spent 35 years in the Aeronautical Industry. Prior to his retirement, he was Vice-President of Engineering for Rolls-Royce Canada Limited. He has served on numerous Boards, including Volunteer West Island. He is a past co-chairperson of the Quebec Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Medic Alert Campaign for Quebec. James has been an active member of the AIESEC McGill Board of Advisors for over 30 years and AIESEC Canada for 15 years. He is currently involved in numerous local charity fundraising events and sits on the Board of Directors of several companies.

Each member brings unique skills, experience and diversity to enhance the governance of the organization. The Board of Directors upholds the Mission and drives the organization by establishing goals, setting policies and providing effective organizational planning. The Board ensures adequate human and financial resources, maintains legal and ethical accountability, monitors programs and services, provides support and direction to the Executive Director and oversees general operations.
